Data only e-sims

To use the Donkey Republic service, your mobile device must be able to receive standard text messages (SMS) for account verification and security.

📱 Connectivity Requirements

• SMS Support Required: You must have a phone number capable of receiving a 4-digit verification code via SMS to register your account or log in.

• Data-Only eSIMs: Many travel eSIMs provide mobile data but do not include a phone number or SMS capabilities. These "Data-Only" plans cannot be used to create or verify a Donkey Republic account.

💡 Traveling Tips

If you are visiting a new city and using a data-only eSIM:

• Register Before You Travel: Set up your account and verify your phone number while you still have access to your primary SIM card (the one that receives texts).

• Stay Logged In: Once your account is verified and you are logged into the app, you can switch to your data-only eSIM to browse the map and unlock bikes.

• Avoid Log-Outs: If you log out of the app while using a data-only eSIM, you may be unable to log back in until you can receive an SMS on your primary number again.
