How to unblock SMS verification codes
If you aren't receiving a 2-step verification (2FA) text, your phone may be filtering out "Short Code" messages (automated texts from 5- or 6-digit numbers). Here is how to check your settings.
🍏 On iOS (iPhone)
Check Blocked Contacts: * Go to Settings > Messages > Blocked Contacts.
Ensure no numbers related to your service provider or previous verification attempts are on this list.
Disable "Filter Unknown Senders":
Go to Settings > Messages.
Scroll down to Message Filtering and ensure Filter Unknown Senders is turned OFF. If it is on, the code may be hiding in your "Unknown Senders" tab in the Messages app.
🤖 On Android
Note: Steps may vary slightly by manufacturer (Samsung, Pixel, etc.).
Check Spam & Blocked:
Open the Messages app.
Tap your Profile Icon or the three-dot menu in the top right.
Tap Spam & Blocked. Check if your verification code was caught by the automated filter.
Verify Short Code Permissions:
Go to Settings > Apps > Special App Access.
Tap Premium SMS Access.
Ensure your messaging app is set to "Ask" or "Always Allow."
