🚲 Pausing Your Ride & Keeping Costs Low
Want to pop into a shop or visit a museum during your trip? Here is everything you need to know about locking your bike mid-ride and how it affects your costs.
🔄 Can I pause my ride?
The short answer is no, rides cannot be paused.
While you can absolutely lock your bike to keep it secure while you step away, your time keeps running. This means:
Just Ride: The per-minute rate will continue to tick up while the bike is locked.
Memberships & Day Passes: Your active pass time will continue to count down.
💳 How do I stop the timer and charges?
The only way to stop the timer and end your billing is to successfully end your rental inside a designated drop-off location.
⚠️ Important Note: We strongly advise against ending your rental outside of a designated drop-off location. Doing so will trigger an out-of-zone penalty fee—even if you later re-rent the same bike and return it to a proper station.
⚠️ Common Troubleshooting
I locked the bike to run an errand, but my app still shows the timer running. Is something wrong?
No, this is completely normal! Because rides cannot be paused, the app will continue to show your active session and timer until you officially click End Ride at a valid drop-off location.
I accidentally ended my ride outside a drop-off zone. Can I fix it by bringing the bike back?
Once a ride is ended outside a designated zone, the penalty is automatically applied by the system. Re-renting the bike to bring it back will start a brand-new rental and will not remove the previous penalty. To avoid this, always make sure you are at an official station before ending your ride.
What should I do if I am at a drop-off location but the app won't let me end the ride?
The easiest thing to do is to check the app and head to one of the nearby alternative drop-off locations it suggests. Even if you are physically at a drop-off, that specific location might be completely full and temporarily unavailable for returns. Please listen to the app's guidance, as dismissing these in-app warnings and leaving the bike there anyway will result in an penalty fee.
