Why do some rentals end automatically, and how can I prevent it?

We may automatically end bike rentals early if the bike remains parked and unused for an extended period. This policy is in place to ensure that bikes are available for other riders and to maintain the overall efficiency of the bike-sharing system. Before ending a rental, the app sends multiple notifications to alert users about the inactivity and the potential for the rental to be terminated.

How to Prevent Your Rental from Ending Early

To avoid having your rental automatically ended due to inactivity, follow these steps:

  1. Interact with the bike periodically: If you plan to take a long break during your rental period, make sure to unlock and relock the bike every few hours. This action signals to the system that the bike is still in use and prevents the rental from being terminated.

  2. Pay attention to notifications: The app will send you alerts if your bike has been inactive for a prolonged period. Responding to these notifications by interacting with the bike can help you avoid an automatic rental termination.

Additional Considerations for Specific Pass Types

  • 24-hour or longer passes: Even if your rental plan allows for extended usage (e.g., 12 hours, 24 hours, or 48 hours), the system may still end your rental if the bike is left unused for several hours. To ensure uninterrupted use, follow the preventive measures mentioned above.

  • Switching passes without ending the rental: If your current pass is about to expire and you wish to continue using the bike, you can purchase a new pass while the current one is still active. The app will automatically switch your rental to the new pass once the existing one expires, allowing you to continue your ride without incurring penalties for ending the rental at a non-designated location.
