🚲 How do passes work?
Buying a pass is a great way to save money and get moving! Here's what you need to know about how your pass works, how your included time is tracked, and how to avoid extra charges.
You cannot buy a pass if your current membership covers the vehicle type of the pass.
💳 Activation and validity
Valid in one city only: your pass works only in the city where you bought it. You can't transfer it to another city or use it there.
Starts right away: your pass's validity period begins the moment you complete your purchase. There's no option to delay the start.
Applies automatically: you don't need to select your pass when you ride. It's applied automatically to any valid rental in the city where you bought it.
🔄 Validity period vs. included time
Your pass has two limits. Knowing the difference helps you get the most out of it:
Validity period: the time frame during which your pass is active (e.g. 24 hours or 7 days).
Included time: the number of active rental minutes that come with your pass.
How the two work together:
If the validity period ends first: any included time you haven't used is lost.
If you use up your included time first: your pass is fully used, even if the validity period hasn't ended yet.
In both cases: any ongoing or new rental automatically switches to standard Just Ride pricing.
⏱️ Using your included time
Only active rentals count: your included time is used only while you have an active rental.
End your rental to stop the clock: to stop using included time, you need to end your rental at a drop-off location.
Locking isn't ending: if you only lock the bike without ending your rental in the app, your included time keeps running.
🔀 Switching bikes and sharing your pass
Not tied to one bike: your pass isn't linked to a specific bike. You can use it on as many bikes as you like during its validity period.
End each rental first: make sure your previous rental is fully ended before you start a new one.
One rental at a time: a pass can't be active on more than one rental at the same time.
⚡ Which bikes are covered?
Classic bikes: all standard day passes cover classic bikes.
E-bikes: e-bikes aren't covered by standard passes, unless your pass explicitly lists "E-bike Compatibility".
⚠️ Troubleshooting
Why was I charged Just Ride pricing when I had a pass?
This usually happens when your validity period ended or your included time ran out during your rental. As soon as either limit is reached, your rental automatically switches to Just Ride pricing.
I locked my bike at a drop-off location, but my included time kept running. Why?
Locking the bike secures it, but it doesn't end your rental. You need to end your rental in the app. Your rental has ended once you receive your receipt.
What happens if I have more than one pass on my account?
You're only charged Just Ride pricing when there are no other active, valid passes on your account. If you buy a new pass while another one is still active, your active passes are used before Just Ride pricing applies.
Can I share my pass with other riders?
A pass can't be active on more than one rental at the same time, so it can't cover several riders riding at once.
