Fixing "No Internet Connection" Errors

🚲 Fixing "No Internet Connection" Errors

Running into a "No Internet Connection" error while trying to unlock a bike or start a ride can be frustrating.

Usually, this happens because Mobile Data is restricted for our app specifically, or because Data Roaming is turned off while traveling outside your primary coverage area. Follow the quick steps below to get reconnected and back on the road.

👤 Checking Mobile Data Restrictions on iOS (iPhone)

iPhone allows you to turn off cellular data for individual apps. Here is how to make sure our app has full access:

  • Open your iPhone Settings app.

  • Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data in some regions).

  • Scroll down to the list of installed apps.

  • Locate Our App and ensure the toggle switch next to it is turned ON (Green).

  • Tip: If the switch was turned OFF, the app will only work when connected to Wi-Fi.

👤 Checking Mobile Data Restrictions on Android

Android devices let you manage network permissions and background data per app. Follow these general steps (names may vary slightly depending on your device brand):

  • Open your phone's Settings app.

  • Tap Apps (or Apps & Notifications) and select Our App.

  • Tap Mobile data & Wi-Fi (or Data usage).

  • Make sure Allow background data usage and Unrestricted data usage are toggled ON.

  • Ensure any setting labeled Disable Mobile Data is turned OFF.

🔄 How to Enable Data Roaming

If you are riding in a new city or country, your phone needs Data Roaming enabled to communicate with local cell networks.

  • On iPhone:

    1. Open Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data).

    2. Tap Cellular Data Options.

    3. Toggle Data Roaming to ON.

  • On Android:

    1. Open Settings > Network & Internet (or Connections).

    2. Tap Mobile Network.

    3. Toggle Data Roaming to ON.

⚠️ Common Troubleshooting

  • I turned on Mobile Data, but the app still says "No Connection"?

Try toggling your phone's Airplane Mode ON for 10 seconds, then toggle it OFF. This forces your device to reconnect to the nearest mobile tower.

  • Does Data Saver mode affect the app?

Yes! If your phone is in Low Data Mode (iOS) or Data Saver (Android), it may restrict background connectivity. Go to your device's battery or network settings and turn off Data Saver while riding.

  • Will turning on Data Roaming incur extra charges from my carrier?

Depending on your mobile plan, roaming outside your home country may incur fees. We recommend checking with your mobile provider before traveling.
